Frequently asked questions
What is a Graduation Lei?
Graduation Lei or Hawaiian Leis are also know as garlands or wreaths. They are a series of flowers or objects strung together. Most are closed but some are open ended. Leis are given to someone mainly out of love, admiration, respect, honor or friendship. Different leis symbolize different things but there is no wrong choice when choosing a lei because it’s given out of aloha. It is customary to give a lei to guests upon arrival in Hawaii. Leis are commonly gifted at graduations, school dances, birthdays, luaus, weddings and celebrations.
Where do you ship to?
We ship to the Continental US with FedEx or UPS.
What kind of lei do we recommend?
There is no right or wrong when choosing the perfect lei to gift someone as it’s a gift of aloha. The most popular lei is our purple single orchid lei. Our deluxe leis are perfect for that special someone if you wanted to give a premium lei. If you are looking for specific colors to match a theme or the persons favorite color, we have dyed leis which are vibrant and unique. You can check our categories for some of our recommendations.
How do you ship lei?
We pack our leis with aloha and with the greatest care. They are hand packed in insulated packages with frozen ice gel packs to keep the leis cool during transit. They are sealed in boxes for additional protection during transit and to keep as much moisture in. We ship the packages with FedEx or UPS via overnight shipping or 2 day air.
Where are your leis shipped from?
All our leis are shipped with aloha from Honolulu. This is the main island in Hawaii.
How long does it take to be delivered?
You have the option to have it shipped overnight or 2 day air. Overnight shipping is only available to most cities west of the Rocky Mountains. All cities east of the Rocky Mountains will require 2 day air. We do recommend ordering at least a week prior to the desired delivery date but we will do our best to accommodate last minute orders.
How do we care for the lei?
We recommend that once you receive the package, to open the box and spray the leis with a light mist of water. It’ll liven the flowers after their long transit from Hawaii. Please do not spray dyed leis for the risk of it bleeding onto other leis. It is unlikely but possible. After you spray the leis, place inside a ziplock bag or plastic bag. Seal and place inside refrigerator till event. If you can’t store in a refrigerator, you can keep cool in a cooler with ice. DO NOT use dry ice. Please have a towel over the ice so the flowers do not have direct contact with the ice because it’ll cause it to wilt. Ideally ice will be in sealed bags. Frozen ice gel packs also work well.
How much is shipping?
Shipping anything to and from Hawaii is expensive but we have competitive pricing for the leis to be shipped to your door. 2 day air is the most economical choice and the only option for some destinations. Overnight shipping is more but it’s a preferred shipping option so that your leis arrive as fresh as possible (option only available to most cities west of the Rocky Mountains). Please see our shipping chart for rates.
